They are still behind opponent Nigeria, whom they defeated in the playoffs to secure their spot in Qatar, despite what their performance in Qatar appears to have done to their FIFA world ranking.
The highest-ranked African team is Morocco, which advanced to the World Cup semifinals and is currently rated eleventh.
Senegal is ranked 19th, Tunisia is 30th, Cameroon is 33rd, and Nigeria is 35th, correspondingly.
The newly-crowned world champions Argentina is in second place, followed by France and Brazil in the FIFA world rankings.
