A few outdated cell phones, including Apple iPhones, Samsung, and Huawei phones, will no longer be supported starting on Sunday, January 1 as part of Meta’s messaging service program, WhatsApp.
Whatsapp updates won’t be allowed for smartphones still running an operating system older than Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), and all iPhones not yet running iOS 12, as some 49 older smartphone models, those in issue today were introduced roughly a decade ago.
Due to this change, the firm will no longer provide updates for certain devices, thus bugs and other problems may develop over time without a patch.

If the functionality of the app is impacted, users will be notified through Whatsapp.
According to the statement, the business considered which hardware and software were the oldest and had the fewest users when deciding which products to discontinue service.
Launching the Settings app and selecting the “System” or “About” menu will allow you to see the version of Android that is currently installed on your smartphone. Apple smartphone users may verify this by opening Settings, choosing “General,” and then touching “About.” You might be able to use WhatsApp normally if newer software updates are available.
For users of Android smartphones running Android 4.0.3 or earlier or Apple iPhones running iOS 9 or older—a total of 43 smartphone models WhatsApp already ceased operating in November of last year.
